Nan’an district is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Chongqing City, where is side of  Nanshan mountain called "mountain Corolla". The vistitor on Nan’an district also can overlook the Yangtze River and the Jialing River. Here is a beautiful and pleasant place.  It is located in east longitude 106 ° 3'14 "~ 106 ° 47'2", north latitude 29 ° 27'2 "~ 29 ° 37'2".  The west arear and north area of Nan’an district is beside the south bank of Yangtze River, beside with Jiulongpo District, Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District and Yubei District across the river. The east area and south are is beside with Banan District. Nan’an Distinct covers an area of 265 square kilometers, of which there are 4640 ha area to be treat as the cultivated land , there are more than 7,000 hectares of forest area. The forest coverage rate is 28.2%. 

Till 2009 year, the Nan’an district jurisdiction includes 7 streets district: Tongyuanju, Huayuan Road, Nanping, Haitangxi, Longmenhao, Danzishi and Nanshan, inlucdes total 7 towns: Nanping, Tushan, Jiguanshi, Xiakou, Changshengqiao, Yinglong and Guangyang. The total urban built area is 55 square kilometers. The District People's Government is in Nanping Nan Road, No. 199.  There is 71.52 million of permanent population, 58.37 million of household population here. Among them, the non-agricultural population is 48.95 million. There are 4715 people borned in this year, the birth rate is 8.13 ‰; there are 2931 people dead in this year, the death rate is 5.06 ‰. The natural population growth rate is 3.08 ‰. 

Nan’an District is an important part of the urban area of Chongqing. The Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone (South Zone), the Chongqing Central Business (South) Zone and Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center lie in the district. The district traffic is very convenient. The dictric has the Yangtze River Bridge, the Egongyan Bridge, the Dafushi Bridge, the Caiyuanba Bridge, the Chaotianmen Bridge, the Guangyangdao Bridge. Also the unique tourism resources is rich, such as Nanshan Forest Park, "ONE Tree" scenery Pavilion, Ciyu Temple, Wenfeng Tower, Tushan Temple, Laojun hole, Huangshan War sites etc. The Nanbin Road has become the most representative of Chongqing Urban Construction. In 2009 year, the GDP of the region to achieve is 30.02 billion yuan, which grows up 15.3%; The fixed assets investment is 30.61 billion yuan, which grows up 14.3%; the industrial output value is 50.15 billion yuan, which grows up 25.3%; the total retail sales of social consumer goods to achieve is 148.5 billion yuan, which grows up 20.3%; the completed local budget revenue 2.83 billion yuan, which grows up 28.3%; the disposable income of urban residents is expected to grow 11%; rural per capita net income is expected to grow 12%. The Energy reduction targets tasks have been fully completed Target Tasks.
